“No sadness, Katie, I never want to see you hurt. Niko noticed the sudden shift in Kate and immediately tried to help. I want you to feel safe with me, and be yourself, not worry about those things,” The Serbian’s voice was soft and low and Katie smiled wide before looking down and tearing up suddenly. Niko scratched the nape of his neck and nodded. “Do you know what I mean, Niko?” Katie looked over at him once again, removing her hand from his thigh, cheeks flushing. He was very nervous now and he didn’t need her to feel the cold sweat in his palm. Niko looked down at their hands and returned his to the wheel. Sure, you did some terrible things, but haven’t we all? I’m just so tired of waiting for the right moment to, you know, get it done?” Katie said with a sigh, sitting back in her seat, turning her focus to the world outside her window. Deep down, I know you’re a good man, Niko. Pulling away from the little kiss, Katie touched the side of Niko’s face, looking into his eyes. That was his answer, despite already knowing it. He didn’t know why he did that, but it made his heart jump and the young woman angled her head, leaned in some more and kissed Niko. “You are very special to me, Katie, but are you sure you want to come home with me?” He said with a slight smile, removing a hand from the wheel and gently putting it over Katie’s. Niko kept quiet as he turned on the heat and looked Kate in the eyes. The sun was fading fast over Liberty City, making the temperature drop a few degrees. They had been officially dating for two months now, which Packie wasn’t overly happy about, but he knew Niko was taking care of her. The gunman had nothing else planned, but what would Packie do if he knew that Niko had brought his little sister to his apartment? Will you take me there?” The woman asked as softly as she had touched and kissed Niko, batting her lovely emerald eyes at him while still mere inches from his lips. Katie McReary was a virgin and it absolutely terrified Niko. Patrick had told him that Katie didn’t put out, that she was as innocent as a woman today could be, and that made the gunman nervous. Niko swallowed and death-gripped the wheel, looking down at her hand. He didn’t even realize she had put a hand on him until she barely moved her fingers along the fabric of his jeans. “I had a really nice time, Niko.” The young woman finally replied in a low voice, only slightly moving from Niko’s face with a hand now rested over his thigh. The radio was turned down and the floral scent of Katie’s perfume dizzied the Serbian’s head, in an unusually good way. She didn’t pull away and Niko didn’t budge, either. Despite it being just a peck on the cheek, the kiss lingered. The red-haired woman nodded and smiled as she quietly leaned over the console to kiss Niko’s cheek. “I had a fun time, Kate.” Niko chirped, hands on the wheel, eyes turned to Katie. Kate was a sweet woman who had endured a lot as a child, but she always did her best to look on the bright side of things. A friendly game of darts, a few drinks and a long conversation about how their lives didn’t have to be shitty. It was 4:32 in the afternoon when Niko had pulled up to the McReary household with Katie in tow.
